  • Tanzania/COSTECH: advice on conceptualization and design of Tanzania’s national pavilion; identification of ICT projects to be showcased; organization of workshops; preparation and  distribution of promotional material; fund raising, and liaison with event organizers in Tunis and Switzerland

The ICT 4 All Exhibition at WSIS Tunis was the largest ICT4D exhibition to date. It was also the first occasion for a Tanzanian national display of ICT projects. BCA´s multimedia theatre performance, Once Upon a Dotcom, was a great success and drew a large crowd on Tanzania Day.

The ICT for Development Secretariat was established in 2002 to promote and facilitate the integration of ICT in Swedish development cooperation. The secretariat´s activities are mainly carried out in Sida´s partner countries.

Review of Formulation and Implementation of National ICTD Strategies ICT for Development UNDP logo

  • Preparation of report with lessons learned from select number of national ICTD strategies, including characteristics of formulation process, status of implementation, sustainability and funding, institutional and capacity requirements
In its efforts to apply the Digital opportunity Initiative (DOI) policy framework, UNDP has supported the formulation and implementation on national ICT strategies throughout the developing world.

The ICT4D Platform was a main WSIS event, combining an exhibition that showcased over 250 organizations and projects with a forum in which lessons and perspectives on key issues were debated by representatives from governments, the private sector and civil society.

Sida´s Department for Democracy and Social Development (DESO) supports the strategic use of ICT as a tool for democracy, human rights and social development. In addition to supporting relevant ICTD efforts in partner countries, DESO will pursue a needs-based integration of ICT in all relevant projects and programs.
